They Built a House of Beta

So, new Wrath beta build already, with some more rogue changes. You’ll have to forgive any potential negativity, I’m still a little sore over diminishing returns on avoidance until I feel properly reassured it won’t be that big a deal – if I end up feeling that. We’ll simply have to see.

The MMO-Champion post is here, the list of changes is as follows:

  • Gouge awards one combo point once again.
  • Tricks of the Trade now costs 15 energy.
  • Hunger for Blood now only attempt to remove a Bleed effect. (Old – any harmful physical effect)
  • Deadly Brew now only has a chance to apply Crippling poison
  • Improved Poisons now increases the chance to apply Instant and Deadly poison to your target by 2/4/6/8/10% (Down from 3/6/9/12/15%)
  • Savage Combat now also increases your total attack power by 2/4%.
  • Vitality has been changed now increases your Energy renegeration rate by 3/6%.
  • Aggression has been moved from Tier 6 to Tier 5 and changed to 5 points. Now Increases the damage of your Sinister Strike, Backstab, and Eviscerate abilities by 2/4/6/8/10%.
  • Endurance now increases your total stamina by 2/4% additionally from the Sprint / Evasion cooldown reduction
  • Filthy Tricks now the cooldown of your Tricks of the Trade and Distract abilities by 5/10 secs and Preparation by 2.5/5 min.

Gouge giving a combo point again is.. odd. It’s arguable wether this is a buff or a nerf, doubly so with the average rogue in Wrath seeming all the more likely to go Mutilate – atleast from my impressions so far. That said.. Hunger for Blood going down to removing only bleed effects is.. potentially significant – I was under the impression that it was the Mobility Talent PvP rogues wanting to go Mutilate were given to catch up to the mobility of Subtlety rogues, but you can feel free to correct me on that if I’m off. Never gone full Assassination spec. ever. Heh.

Vitality going from giving agility and stamina to giving energy regeneration might be fun for those getting it – having tried the PTR now, I admit the constant energy regeneration is actually quite a lovely change. No more waiting for ticks – energy regenerates, you use it to kill things. Much smoother, much less feeling like you have to wait for more than you need. moving the stamina gain over to Endurance is.. interesting enough. I admit I’ve actually been contemplating whether to consider taking a talent point from somewhere on my estimated Wrath build and putting it in 2/2 Endurance instead of just 1/2 for the extra stamina, especially with Avoidance on diminishing returns, I might need as much stamina as I can get if I’m going to keep at the rogue tank gig somehow.

Assuming it’ll be possible, of course.

Being able to cut the Preparation cooldown in half down to five minutes is rather nice, though I’m not sure if I’d bother, especially with Evasion, Blade Flurry, Sprint, Vanish and My Second Vanish (also known as Shadowmeld) all being only two minutes anyway.

There’s still no sign of the redesign promised for Killing Spree, nor the supposed boost they claimed they’d intended for Lightning Reflexes – with the significant Avoidance nerf, Lightning Reflexes could use an improvement even more now – especially since it appears to count towards the diminishing returns on avoidance, somehow Nevermind, communication failiure. So I’d wager they’re not quite done yet.

    Vitality is pretty interesting now.

Lightning reflexes still crap, but unfinished.

Swordspec should probably be moved 1 tier up.

relentless strikes should definitely be made into 3/3, and increase the energy per point rather than chance per point to give a more reliable value.

But yeh,, still beta, still unfinished. They’re sure taking their time 😛
