Alas, poor Shandris

Sometimes I weep for my server – except that it’s not really weeping and more like sighing, facepalming and shaking my head. Playing on a roleplaying server definitely has had its fun and good moments – it’s debatable whether I’d found a band like Yelnenu or even would be playing WoW period if I’d been playing on a regular or pvp realm and not old Earthen Ring. Still, it’s not all smiles and giggles – sometimes you come across people – and titles, and descriptions – that are just distressing.

A friend of mine came across this particular combination of race, class and name/title/description – and passed me a screenshot. I thought I’d share the facepalm as my almost four years on Earthen Ring has left me feeling a tad vindictive at times.

Atleast there’s no obcessively wordy description of how drop dead gorgeous she is stocked full of all manner of purple prose, though I still think it’s a little distressing to see – not only taking a known character but also decidign to remake her a …Death Knight? Mind you, I don’t know how well she carries herself, but at this point it seems a tad moot – there’s some lines that really shouldn’t be crossed in an open setting.

I’d have to say I’m rather curious who’s behind this – whether it’s actually someone I know of (or even one of the Usual Suspects) or just someone random.

Eh. People.

pfff… I don’t have anything to say… soon we’ll see King Varian(s), Velen(s) and who knows who else in the form of deathknights…
Still, after seeing children of Elune and Arthas I must say this doesn’t surprise me so much, many people are just stupid and don’t know there is a line that should not be crossed…

I hope the person gets banned, along with all those Arthas(es), Elune(s) and who knows whom else.

I still think the best one ive ever seen was a subtitle saying “lovechild of Tyrande and Illidan” … that just made me wanna vomit. But yea, you see some odd types at times. In my case, i tought it better just to ignore them and move past swiftly, before they start talking to you and youd basicly want to strangle them… PAINfully

I always have to laugh when I see people choosing so unoriginal names. My realm is full of players called Arthaz, Arthass and lots of other variations. But if they can’t come up with anything else…
Besides names are not unique. Millions of people have the same name, so why should it be different in WoW? Why couldn’t you name your character Shandris, even on RP realm? “My mother was a close friend of Shandris Feathermoon, so when I was born she named me Shandris too,” these players could say.

Shandris as a first name wouldn’t be a problem. As you said, lots of pople say first names. It’s the rest of the name and the title that destroys all hope..
