And for something Colosally different..

This was just a random image idea that just popped into my head, really; took only some half an hour to assemble, so it’s a pretty quick and rough thing. It struck me as something a little different – most of the time I play around with imagery of old Nhani Moonfall and her Draenei.. ah.. friend, she tends to be the one in the lead, so to speak. The one who’s instigating and driving things forward. With this idea.. I wanted something different. It’s technically work safe – it doesn’t show anything; it does imply a whole lot however, so consider this a fair warning.

One of the standing concepts with Nhani is the dichotomy between the iconic Priestess Moonfall and the woman behind the title, the one left carrying the burden that the icon can’t show being weighted down by. The result is that it’s quite rare for people to really glimpse the actual Nhani – most of the time they’ll just see varieties of the Priestess, the Mother or the Huntress personas. With this, I wanted to pierce that veil; provide a glimpse into one of the rare moments where she allows herself to be carefree and unburdened.

As promised, Larger (1920×1440) variants: 01, 02, 03

A friend of mine suggested adding captions, but I’ll spare you that – I think they speak enough on their own. Feel free to amuse yourselves with coming up with ones, though. And yes, I know the bed is tiny. Like I said, it was a pretty quick thing thrown together, so I just grabbed whatever bed model I already had and used that. I don’t think it represents a permanent residence by any means.

My dirty mind took the title in a whole different way after seeing what it was about…

… I’ll just go back to my cage now…

    question! …
What is that bed made of? I mean it contains both Nhani (although I doubt she is very heavy) and giant blue squid who managed to crash into a PLANET!… love that female Draenei joke xD

Nhani’s actually not all that lightweight. Between her significant height and strong build.. I did some poking at numbers with the help of the sourcebook and if I recall, she had something like 50% more mass than your average human male, if not more.

She’s actually quite a bit heavier than people might think. 😉

Besides, it’s a night elven bed. They’re meant to resist the weight, I’d think!

Yeah i would expect her to be more massive than a human female…course still tiny next to the bulk that is the draenei, he would have to be close to three times her size.

She’s more massive than humans period 😉

Her Draenei compatriot is.. just a tad larger still; both taller, wider and everything. We don’t need sourcebook numbers to get a sense for how he has significantly more mass.

Premission to nick one of the pics and use it as desktop image? =D

Ahaha, well feel free to. xD Heck, if you need a larger resolution one for once it’d just be taking the right frame, throwing larger numbers at 3ds and let it crunch. Won’t fix the floor texture, but with shadows and whatnot.

Kept them small since I figured they were quick and not very processed. xD

I wonder how their tendrils do work, if you think about it, they must have some biological use for them, prehaps they taste/scent with them, or they catch vibrations with them… at any regard, i do like the picture, it has a warm feeling about it. Not about races, but about being male and female and shareing eachothers company. Having said that… he looks like the type to take all the blanket accedently…

    I think it’s very pretty.
Not in a ‘WOOT SHE HAZ SEXY TIME’ kinda way, but sort of…finding a soul mate kind of way.
I’m a sucker for romantic pictures, espcially of strong women who need a shoulder to cry on.
After all, all leaders, be it night elf or human, orc or blood elf, they are still mortal, they still have flaws, they still have needs.

Despite how fast you made this, you caught the emotion very well. Heck if you made this romance canon to your roleplay story I wouldn’t mind, adds the human flavor to somebody who should be above mortal desires and wants.

Well in a way it already is part of her overall narrative; the renders I do of the pair are part of how I get a meaningful interaction between them. Of course, it’s all part of fluid canon, and old Nhani Moonfall likes to keep her private life private in so far is possible. She’ll sometimes mention a Draenei ‘friend’ of hers that she entertains mundane conversations with; in rare occasions she might suggest it’s someone she has an.. interest.. in, rarer still with people she trusts she might go so far as to imply it’s gone far enough that she occasionally beds with him in so far time, duty and discretion allows.

I don’t think she’s ever mentioned his identity beyond that he’s a Champion of the Exodar and that he’s a rather tall sort. If you know who she means you can put two and two together, but there’s still enough leeway that I can get away with it. It’s doubtful she’ll ever mention a name to anyone beyond those closest to her, and those people are generally going to be okay with it 😉

I find Draenei and Night elf couples intriguing. After all the Night elves sufferd a lot by the Draenei’s brothers aka the Eredar during the War of the Ancients.
It’s a sort of forbidden romance in a way, but yet it’s acceptible. Some old Night elves, who have been part of the war, will forwn on it but most, and other Alliance races, wouldn’t mind.

Think you made a good relationship here, and made it sound very plausible.

          February 28, 2010 at 13:30

In the case of Nhani, I always felt she very quickly struck up a feeling of kinship with the Draenei; there was definitely a time of “Wait.. Eredar?!”, but once past that and having had it explained enough that she clicked to the idea that Eredar are essentially the Draenei version of the Night elven Satyr, I think she came to feel their two peoples have a great deal in common.

Of course, it definitely is a bit of a forbidden romance – not only because of who he is, but who she is; were it simply some random youngling striking up a relationship with a non-night elf, it could’ve been explained away by youth, inexperience, defiance or any number of reasons. When Priestess Nhani Moonfall, one of the older Night elves still alive, a prominent member of the Night elven clergy and – according to some – the very ideal of what it means to be a Night elf takes on a non-night elven partner.. well.. it risks being just a tad more controversial.

          • February 28, 2010 at 13:55

            It is.
Thing is though i believe in due time the Draenei and night elves might create a kinship like the Orcs and Darkspear Trolls, or Humans and Dwarves share because of shared history of a common foe, facing the same trials, the night elves helping the draenei get up their feet and i presume introducing them into the Alliance.
So perhaps in time this relationship Nhani and her mate/lover/love interest are in might become more commonly accepted amongst her and his peers and higher ups.
In-game i found a lot of Night Elf/Draenei couples (my Gf’s brother’s night elf has a relationship with a draenei) but i think this one strikes more home to me, because this is what you can expect with outer racial relationships.

Are you planning on developing this on your backstory, such as someone fidning out, big scandal in Darnassus and such, or keep it the way it is?

              February 28, 2010 at 14:39

I’m sure whenever it’d potentially reach public ears it’d probably be taken up and waved around as a happy flag of unity between the Draenei and the Night elven peoples, both by the night elven High Priestess and the draenei Prophet, since both of them seem rather keen on the idea of further cooperation.. though I think Nhani herself would just be a little upset over the idea of her personal life being used as a political bludgeon.

As for what will happen, not sure actually. I’m not sure enough people would care (or disapprove) enough to create a believable enough perspective of a scandal. She might speak a little more publicly about it once Cataclysm hits since by then everything regarding the Argent Tournament will officially be over, from a narrative standpoint. But I don’t think I have enough influence to actually make any kind of scandal event out of it.

In many ways, it’s still a work in progress; I’d like to think that the nature of the random renders I’ve done of them have changed over time as their relationship has developed off-screen.

              Looking forward to it. 😀

I’m curious what would Nhani have to do to lie down on her back, I mean, wouldn’t her ears get in the way?

    • 22 Nhani
      February 28, 2010 at 13:35

I think the ears are malleable to a point, that they can bend and twist without really breaking – if they couldn’t they’d most likely break too easily, and make it uncomfortable for them to move their heads around rapidly or brush up against things.

That said, I think she’d very much prefer not to since I think she’d find it uncomfortable when her ears get in the way. I think she prefers sleeping on her side.

I think that because of the ears and what you were suggesting, Nhani would prefer to be on top if you get what I mean 😉

I know this is a pretty old comment and chances are no one will ever see this reply, but oh well. Anyway, remember that while Nhani has the ears complicating things, HE has a TAIL. I’m not sure if he’d be capable of laying on his back. How on Azeroth would that work, anyway? I’m drawing a blank.

Fabulous work; I hope to see more of this series, if that is what you intend to make of it.

Furau (should he ever find out), would be happy for her, as he’s thought for a long time time that she needs someone to fully confide in and to lean on, given that she can’t really show that need openly, and even more so after he realised during a conversation with her that she can’t really tust anyone fully, which would only add to her loneliness.

I still am filled with glee when I see these pictures, as I think I’ve mentioned before, I RP out a relationship with the same two races, and Nhani resembles my character kinda-sorta. So the visuals are amazing and evoke the sort of things I’d like to create, but can’t at the moment.

In addition, the relationship you’ve developed between these two is fascinating, supportive, and I guess the tiniest bit melancholy. I, for one, would like to see and hear more about it. I admit, your characters, both in the BTT comic and when you write about them here, draw me in and I crave more knowledge about them.

On that note, my character Choline would like to give Nhani the contact information for the people who constructed her bed…. 😉

It might come in handy some day.

The only hurdle to accessing this is of course human limitations and
the fact that the brain does not function solely as a
learning tool for the human being. * Team answer sheets – Basically a grid lined
A4 type sheet with answer write in numbered boxes and a line
on top for the team name. The decline of the East side blues scene was disheartening, but, it also gave rise
to the need for a fresh start, which came in the
form of the next blues-only venue, Antone’s, founded by the late Clifford Antone, during the summer of 1975.
