Random Render: Raene Wolfrunner

This is a render I’ve had in mind for some time in various forms and only really had the time and focus to concoct recently. Since we’ve had some focus on Raene lately, I’ve been had ample opportunity to delve into what’s going on in her head how I might make something interesting out of it; especially by showing – or in the least hinting at – the things she’s trying not to.

Ever since I decided to include it, I always wanted to make more out of Teronis death in Beyond the Tree than World of Warcraft does; I figure in the game we’re just some random stranger telling her close friend died, and as a result she catches herself pretty quickly and walls up behind duty and professionalism. In Beyond the Tree, the situation is somewhat different, which allows a different approach to how to present and deal with the outcome of his passing.

So, this render. It has a few oddities going about, but the overall visual is there. I’ve come to call it “Where have our friends gone” after a snippet of possible dialogue that might still pop up in a few weeks. Still, thought I’d show this one for now.

    Aww :<

I like the way she looks simultaneously angry and on the verge of tears. Dagri looks adorable and thouroughly soaked. I do wonder a bit where she keeps the journal on her person, though Hani's hair tie (?) would fit neatly into her hip pouch.

It’s meant to be a brown leather headband. It’s probably quite hard to recognize, especially since it should likely be somewhat longer, but still!

I’m glad we see the consequences here after that Q-line, Raene didn’t really say how close her friend was to her, after all if you’ve known each other for thousands of years, such a death would be a heavy blow.

Ah, yes, this.. I totally forgot, I’ve been busy. Anyhow, as Arkanabar says, there’s a relevant page that more or less provides the gist of it. In short though, pretty much all resources I use come from the game in one form or another, and go through varied amounts of editing depending on the situation.

I generally use modelviewer to get the models out of the game, for reference.

Mirc: Look up on the right for a link to “Beyond the Tree.” It’s Nhani’s other blog, where she posts her webcomic. At the very top of it, on the left, there’s a link (which I am about to reproduce) called how to.

I bring news from the beta!

Renee Wolfrunner still lives and is giving quests, yet you still give her the bad news…

…sadly, I cannot say the same for Delgrin and Feero Ironhand. 😦
